This seminar examines the Demand Chain, the customer-facing
corollary to the Supply Chain. The Demand Chain is an umbrella
philosophy that places customers at the center and focuses all
business activities on developing long-term relationships with
customers by proactively creating and delivering solutions that
profitably meet continually evolving customer needs. Companies
focusing on the Demand Chain focus on growth potential rather
than costs, know their customers better than anyone else--perhaps
even themselves--and integrate their thoughts, attitudes, needs,
and desires into everything they do. The also adapt to meet customers
need and desires by building and delivering solutions to actual
customer "pain" rather than perceived desires.
This new approach emphasizes understanding and serving
individual customer needs to create and sustain profitable competitive
advantage. The seminar presents methods for customer sensing and
interpreting customer feedback; and discusses strategic customer-centric
product and service development. It examines contemporary software
solutions to enable effective and personalized marketing, sales,
and customer retention activities in the Information Age. In addition
the seminar covers organizational structures within the Demand
Chain.
The primary objectives of the seminar are to help
participants do the following:
- Understand the overall value chain of the firm
- Understand the limitations of a traditional supply chain
focus
- Obtain hands-on experience in customer sensing, aggregating
and interpreting customer feedback, and incorporating customer
“pain” into product/service solutions
- Understand customer relationship management as an umbrella
process, independent of technology
- Explore leading marketing and CRM processes to acquire new
and nurture existing customers to achieve greater share of wallet
and decrease costs
- Become aware of organizational considerations and structures
required to support building and maintenance of profitable long-term
customer relationships.
- Become conversant in available technological solutions for
optimizing demand chain activities and ensuring consistent,
